Chart of Accounts

The Chart of Accounts is used to define all the account numbers utilized in Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, and other add-on modules in the School Accounting System.  Account numbers are made up of state-specific reference pieces (reference numbers), as defined in the Reference Files, and must follow the account structure set within your database (in the Change Account Structure option) for the various account types.

Each account number has a record in the Chart of Accounts containing the following information:  account number, account type, description, and whether or not the account is active.  An account number must first be defined in the Chart of Accounts before it can be used in the School Accounting System.

An inquiry can also be completed in the Chart of Accounts to view the beginning, ending, and unencumbered balances for an account number, along with all the transactions that posted to the account.
