Note: If the account number is currently saved within the Crosswalk Account Numbers option, the system will not allow it to be changed.
From the General Ledger screen, select the Maintenance menu and then Chart of Accounts.
At the Chart of Accounts screen, enter the account number to change in the Chart of Account Number field. If the account number is not known, click the down-arrow button or the Find button to select the correct one.
Each reference piece and its description used in the account number are shown in the References List located at the bottom of the screen.
Make the desired changes to the account number.
Note: If the account number has been used, the Account Type ID field cannot be changed for revenue and expenditure accounts, but can be changed to a different balance sheet account type (type 1-7) for balance sheet accounts. The Yearly Post Account field cannot be edited for revenue and expenditure accounts; instead, to change the Yearly Post Account, complete the Change Yearly Post Accounts option.
After all the changes have been made, click the Save button.
If the account number was changed, a prompt will appear verifying whether or not to change the account number or add a new one. To change the account number, click the Change button. To not change the account number and revert to use the original number, click the Revert to Original button. To add a new account number, click the Create New button.
