Note: The instructions below are for using the Convert IDs to Alpha option with employees, employer history, payees, received froms, ship to addresses, vendors, or customers.
From the appropriate file maintenance screen, select the Options menu and then Convert IDs to Alpha.
At the Convert IDs to Alpha screen, select the entities (listed in the Change section) for which to have the IDs converted to alpha. A checkmark will appear in the box if the item is selected.
Complete the Letters From section as desired.
In the Last Name field, enter the number of characters to include in the ID from the last name for the selected entities.
In the First Name field, enter the number of characters to include in the ID from the first name for the selected entities.
Note: The total number of characters specified in the Last Name and First Name fields cannot be greater than 10.
In the Legal Business Name field, enter the number of characters to include in the ID from the legal business name for the selected entities.
Note: If an entity has both a legal business name and a first/last name, the ID will use the characters from the legal business name.
After all the selections have been specified, click the Execute button.
When prompted, click Yes to continue the process.
After the IDs are converted, a message will appear; click OK.
