From the Payroll screen, select the Government Reporting menu and then Nebraska Unemployment Report.
At the Nebraska Unemployment Report screen, click the Report Options tab and complete the information.
Enter the ending date of the quarter for which to generate the report in the Ending Quarter field. Use the mm/dd/yyyy format or click the down-arrow button to select the desired date. The default quarter ending date for the most recent (greatest) month used as the Processing Month in Payroll will appear, but can be changed.
Enter the account number (up to 10 digits) for the school district in the Employer Account Number field.
If desired, to include the position (primary job title) for each employee, as entered in the Position field on the Employment screen in the Employee File, select the Include Position field. A checkmark will appear in the box if the field is selected.
Click the Save button.
Click the Pay Groups tab to select the pay groups to include on the unemployment report.
Note: The pay groups defined (within the Pay Group File) to be included on the Nebraska Unemployment Report are selected by default, but can be changed if needed; if changes are made here, the changes will also be reflected in the Pay Group File.
To select a pay group, click the box under the Selected column to the left of the pay group ID. A checkmark will appear in the box if the pay group is selected.
To select all of the pay groups, click the Select All button located above the Pay Groups List.
Click the Save button.
Click the Taxes tab to select which tax is set up for the State Unemployment Tax and should be included on the unemployment report.
For the appropriate tax, click the box under the Selected column to the left of the tax ID. A checkmark will appear in the box if the tax is selected.
Click the Save button.
If needed, click the Adjust Hours Worked tab to adjust the number of hours worked for employees for the specified quarter.
Note: Adjustments can only be made for employees set up with the unemployment tax who worked and were paid in the specified quarter.
The payroll earnings information for the specified quarter for the employees appear on the screen with each pay code (and check date) listed as a separate entry.
To make an adjustment, click in the Hours Worked field (column) for the desired entry and then key the new number of hours worked.
Click the Save button to save the changes.
Repeat these steps until all adjustments have been made.
If desired, click the View/Edit Data tab to view the information on the unemployment report and make any changes if needed.
Tip: To lock a column in place so that it does not move while scrolling the information in the grid, click the pushpin located to the right of the desired column heading. Once the pushpin has been selected for a column, the pushpin will appear vertical to indicate the column is locked, and the locked column will move to the left and appear in front of all unlocked columns. To unlock a column, click the pushpin again; the pushpin will appear horizontal to indicate a column is unlocked. If the screen is closed and re-opened, the settings for the pushpins will go back to the defaults.
To change the wages for the quarter for an employee, click in the Quarter Wages field and then key the correct amount. To change the position for an employee (if the Include Position field was selected on the Report Options tab), click in the Position field and then key the correct information. To delete an employee from the report, click the Delete button to the left of the desired employee.
Note: All changes will be lost once the View/Edit Data screen is closed (either by closing the option or accessing a different tab (screen)); if any changes were made, create the file at this time in order to include the desired changes.
To export the data shown in the Report Data List on the View/Edit Data screen into a file in order to open and print the report (such as in Microsoft® Excel), if desired, complete the Export Grid option (accessed from the File menu).
Note: The file created with the Export Grid option is not the file to submit to the state as it is not using the correct required file format/layout.
The unemployment report can then be generated to paper (to keep as a hard copy) and to a file (to submit to the state).
Printing to Paper:
From the Nebraska Unemployment Report screen, select the Reports menu and Quarterly Unemployment Report for Nebraska.
Note: If changes were made to the data on the View/Edit Data tab, the Quarterly Unemployment Report for Nebraska will not reflect the changes; instead, complete the Export Grid option (noted above in Step 6) to print a report including the changes.
Creating a File:
Complete the Create Report File option.
After the unemployment report is printed and the file created, click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the screen.
