Resubmitting a PIN Request for a 941 Electronic Authorized Signer

Note:  The instructions below are for resubmitting a 941 online PIN request for a prior submission that was rejected for an authorized signer.  If needed, refer to the Adding a 941 Electronic Authorized Signer and Request PIN topic for more information.

  1. Make the appropriate changes to resolve the errors specified with the rejected submission (errors can be viewed within the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers/PIN Requests option).

  2. From the Payroll screen, select the Government Reporting menu, Quarterly 941s, and 941 Electronic Authorized Signers/PIN Requests.

  3. At the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers/PIN Requests screen, click the Edit & Resubmit button in the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers List for the rejected submission for the recently added authorized signer.

Tip:  The Edit & Resubmit button will be disabled if there is another authorized signer listed with the Active field already selected.  

Note:  If your user rights were overridden within the User Security option to have no access or read only access to the Social Security Number field within the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers/PIN Requests option, a message will appear stating you do not have rights to resubmit a PIN request; click OK and have another user with the appropriate rights complete the resubmission.

  1. The Submit PIN Requests to IRS screen will appear with the data defaulting into the appropriate fields from the System File or from the previous submission; if needed, make changes as applicable.

  1. Click the Submit Authorized Signer PIN Request to IRS button.

  2. A message will appear in the status bar stating the 941 online PIN registration has been sent.

  3. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the Submit PIN Requests to IRS screen.

  4. A second line for the newly added authorized signer will appear in the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers List on the 941 Electronic Authorized Signers/PIN Requests screen.  The name, title, and email address for the authorized signer will appear, along with the date/time of the PIN request resubmission and Submitted as the Submission Status.

  1. The IRS will process the resubmission for the PIN request; continue with Step 9 on the Adding a 941 Electronic Authorized Signer and Request PIN topic.
