Note: Closing a step and lane will restrict the cell from being used on the salary schedules for the package.
From the Negotiations screen, select the Maintenance menu and then Salary Schedules.
At the Salary Schedules screen, enter the ID of the package for which to close the step and lane in the Package ID field, or click the down-arrow button to select the correct one.
The Salary Schedule - Amounts table for the specified package will display.
Click the Edit tab; or if desired, double-click on the cell (step and lane) to close instead and then continue with Step 7.
Enter the number of the desired step to close in the Step field, or click the down-arrow button to select the correct one.
Enter the number of the desired lane to close in the Lane field, or click the down-arrow button to select the correct one.
The information for the selected step and lane appears.
To close the specified cell, select the Closed field. A checkmark will appear in the box if the field is selected.
Note: If a cell is closed, the specified step and all the steps after it (those with a higher step number) in the same lane will also be closed; for example, if a lane has a total of 10 steps and Step 8 is closed, the system will also close Steps 9 and 10. Also, if a cell has an amount in the FTE field or the Hours field, the cell cannot be closed.
Click the Save button.
Repeat Steps 5-9 to close other cells (steps and lanes).
When done, click the Salary Schedules tab to view the tables.
