Add New Assets

The Add New Assets option is used to enter new assets into the Fixed Asset Inventory module.  With the Add New Assets option, a record for each new asset is entered into a batch.  Each asset record contains the location, classification, acquisition, and depreciation information, along with the supplementary information for the custom fields, if applicable.

Once the batch of new assets is posted, the records move to the Asset File Maintenance option, and the entries to record the new assets to the Fixed Asset Fund post to General Ledger (from the Fixed Asset journal), if applicable.  

Note:  If an amount is entered in the Depreciation Accumulated field for a new asset in the Add New Assets option, no depreciation entries post to General Ledger, and so enter and post the necessary manual journal entries in General Ledger to record the accumulated depreciation, if applicable.
