Note: The special fields that can be added to a custom report in the Report Writer module are: Page Number, Print Date, Record Count, Report Name, Sub Heading, and User ID.
Click the title bar for the section in which to add the special field. Typically, the special fields are inserted into the Page Header section, except the Record Count field which is usually added to the Detail section, if desired.
Note: If the report to edit is not yet open, first complete the following: from the Report Writer screen, click on the name of the view group in the Report Groups List that contains the report for which to add a special field and click on the name of the report to edit in the Reports List (or click the Find button instead to search for the desired report); then click the Edit Record button located at the top of the screen.
Select the Insert menu, Special Fields, and then the desired special field: Page Number, Print Date, Record Count, Report Name, Sub Heading, or User ID.
The selected field will appear in the designated section.
Resize, format, move, and align the field as needed.
Tip: The following buttons (and corresponding options under the Format menu) are available to format a special field: Bold button, Italic button, Underline button, Font Settings button, Align button, Back Color button, Fore Color button, and Border button. Additional properties can be set for a special field using the following fields within the Properties List: Vertical Alignment (Top, Middle, or Bottom), Can Grow (True or False), Can Shrink (True or False), Optional (True or False), and Output Format (to select the date and time format for the Print Date field, or to select the page number format for the Page Number field).
