Steps to Import Scanner DataThe Import Scanner Data option, accessed from within the Process Scanner Data option, imports a data file downloaded from a scanner (formatted with either carriage returns or commas as the delimiter) into the Fixed Asset Inventory module after an annual or semi-annual inventory of assets has been taken. With the Import Scanner Data option, as the data is imported, the system compares each asset in the Asset File Maintenance option to the assets that were scanned. Any assets that are new or missing, or have location or disposal status changes, are assigned a corresponding Variance Type (refer to the Process Scanner Data topic in the Help File for the specific list of Variance Types).
Once a scanner data file has been imported, the data is continually used (displayed) within the Process Scanner Data option until a new scanner file is imported.
Note: The Import Scanner Data option is not intended for use with the initial inventory.
