Examples of Position Titles and Positions

Each school district determines how detailed or general the position titles and positions are defined within the Human Resources module; when deciding what to use for position titles and positions, be sure to consider your school district's needs for reporting requirements.  Below are examples of general and more detailed position titles and positions, and how a few reports could be generated for each.

EXAMPLE 1:  The example below shows where the position titles are set more generically.  In this example, reports could easily be generated to show all the Principal positions (by specifying to print only the position title of "Principal") or all the Elementary Teacher positions (by selecting only the position title of "Elementary Teacher").  However, in order to obtain a report of all the Elementary Principal positions in this example, the individual positions for "Washington Elementary School Principal" and "Jefferson Elementary School Principal" would need to be selected.  Also, to obtain a report of all First Grade Teacher positions, the individual positions for "Washington Elementary First Grade Teacher" and "Jefferson Elementary First Grade Teacher" would need to be selected.

EXAMPLE 2:  The example below shows were the position titles are set more detailed.  In this example, reports could easily be generated to show all the Elementary Principal positions (by specifying to print only the position title of "Elementary Principal") or all the First Grade Teacher positions (by selecting only the position title of "First Grade Teacher").  However, in order to obtain a report of all the Principal positions in this example, all the individual position titles for "Elementary Principal", "Middle School Principal", and "High School Principal" would need to be selected.  Also, to obtain a report of all Elementary Teacher positions, the individual positions for each elementary teaching position would need to be selected (i.e. would need to select "Washington Elementary First Grade Teacher", "Jefferson Elementary First Grade Teacher", "Washington Elementary Second Grade", "Jefferson Elementary Second Grade Teacher", etc.).
