From the Human Resources screen, select the Maintenance menu, Positions, and then Position Titles.
At the Position Titles screen, click the New Record button.
Note: For any field equipped with the repeat function, click the Repeat button or press the Ctrl+R keys to repeat the previous entry for the specified field. The repeat function is only available after your initial entry.
Enter a unique ID for the position type for which the position title will be included in the Position Type ID field. The ID can be alphanumeric and up to 10 characters long (no spaces). If adding a position title for an existing position type and the ID is not known, click the down-arrow button or the Find button to select the correct one.
Note: If adding a new position type, to have the system automatically assign the ID using the first 10 characters (letters and numbers only) of the description, leave the ID field blank; once the record is saved, the ID will be assigned.
If adding a new position type, enter the description for the new position type in the Position Type Description field. The description can be up to 40 characters long. If adding a new position title for an existing position type, the description for the specified position type will appear in the Position Type Description field.
If adding a new position type, enter the appropriate usage (Both, External, or Internal) for whether the position type will be used for internal or external job titles (or both) in the Position Type Usage field, or click the down-arrow button to select the correct one. If adding a new position title for an existing position type, the usage defined for the specified position type will appear in the Position Type Usage field.
To add a position title to the specified position type, complete the following:
In the blank line (indicated with an asterisk) at the bottom of the Position Titles List, enter the ID of the new position title in the Position Title ID field. The ID can be alphanumeric and up to 10 characters long (no spaces).
Note: To have the system automatically assign the ID using the first 10 characters (letters and numbers only) of the description, leave the ID field blank; once the record is saved, the ID will be assigned. The Position Title ID must be unique and cannot be used more than once or with multiple position types.
Enter the description for the new position title in the Position Title Description field. The description can be up to 40 characters long.
Enter the ID of the evaluation type to use as the default for the specified position title in the Position Title Evaluation Type ID field, if desired. If the ID is not known, click the down-arrow button to select the correct one, or press the Ctrl+F keys to access the search feature.
If applicable, repeat these steps until all the position titles have been added for the specified position type.
Click the Save button.
